A father and his two sons live alone in a house without women. The most routine tasks, such as preparing breakfast, bathing, or doing housework, turn into real adventures when tackled by three inexperienced men and their fear of not knowing what they are doing. The journey the elder brother must make in order to leave home and the fear of saying goodbye to the ones we love become the starting point of our story.

🎶 IT STARTS HERE. IT STARTS JUNE 13th.

Levitt VIBE Chicago Music Series — KICK-OFF

Saturday, June 13, 2026 · 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Riis Park · Behind the Field House · 6100 W. Fullerton Ave., Chicago FREE · All Ages · Open to the Public

Summer is officially ON. Join us for the grand kick-off of the Levitt VIBE Chicago Music Series — 10 straight Saturdays of world-class live music, right in the heart of the Belmont Cragin neighborhood in Chicago’s Northwest side. No tickets. No cover. Just great music under the open sky.

We’re launching the season with two acts that will have you on your feet before the first song ends.

🎵 Arpa Café

Chicago’s own folkloric gem, Arpa Café takes you on a musical journey through the living landscapes of Colombia. Founded and directed by master harpist Daniel Rojas, the ensemble weaves the llanera harp — the soul instrument of Colombia’s vast llanos plains — into a rich conversation with vocals, strings, and the traditional percussion of multiple regions. From the mountains to the Caribbean coast, from the Pacific shore to the sweeping plains shared with Venezuela, Arpa Café brings out the full, dazzling diversity of Colombian music in a single performance. Elegant, earthy, and completely alive — this is Colombian folklore told the way it was meant to be heard.

🪗 Vallenato Deluxe

Get ready for the accordion-driven heartbeat of Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Vallenato Deluxe brings the irresistible rhythms of vallenato — the beloved folk music of the Colombian coast recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage — with a polished, high-energy flair that is equal parts tradition and celebration. Powered by accordion, caja drum, and guacharaca, their sound is joyful, soulful, and built for dancing. Whether you know every classic or you’re hearing vallenato for the very first time, you won’t be able to stand still.

Friday, June 19, 2026 · 8:00 PM Thalia Hall · 1807 S. Allport St., Chicago, IL 60608 Presented by Thalia Hall and the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago

Get ready, Chicago. On Friday, June 19, the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago and Thalia Hall invite you to witness something genuinely unlike anything else on the live music landscape: Son Rompe Pera, the Mexico City-bred architects of cumbia punk, bringing their legendary high-voltage marimba mayhem to the historic stage in Pilsen.

Doors open to Thalia Hall’s grand, cathedral-like ballroom — capacity around 900, standing configuration — but if the band’s reputation is any guide, the floor will be a moving, breathing organism long before the first note drops. These shows don’t so much begin as erupt.

Who Are Son Rompe Pera?

The story starts in the outskirts of Mexico City, where brothers Jesús “Kacho” Gama and Allan “Mongo” Gama grew up at their father’s side, learning to play marimba at weddings, quinceañeras, and street corners across the city. Their father, José “Batuco” Gama — a traditional marimbero — passed down not just an instrument but a way of life rooted in music, community, and the streets.

As teenagers, the brothers did what teenagers do: they abandoned the “uncool” marimba for punk, rockabilly, and ska. But the instrument pulled them back. This time, they brought punk with them.

The result is Son Rompe Pera — a five-piece ensemble wielding marimba, conga, güiro, drums, guitar, and bass in a pan-Latino sonic assault that has been called the only band of its kind on earth. Their motto says it all: “Cumbia is the New Punk.”

After a chance encounter at the La Lagunilla flea market in Mexico City, the band was invited to Chile, where they played over 40 shows and laid down the recordings that would become their debut album Batuco (2020, ZZK/AYA Records), named in honor of their late father. Their follow-up, Chimborazo (2023), recorded at Bogotá’s Mambo Negro studio, earned raves from NPR, Billboard, and The Wire — with the latter describing it as “rough, full-throttle cumbias dominated by the ribcage rattle of the marimba, while surf punk skeletons shake their way out of the closet.”

They’ve since headlined SXSW, Vive Latino, Roskilde, and Lincoln Center. They’ve performed alongside Café Tacuba, Celso Piña, and Chico Trujillo. And wherever they go, they leave behind something that has become their calling card: the marimba mosh pit.

La Catedral del Rock en Pilsen / The Cathedral of Rock in Pilsen

Thalia Hall is the perfect match for this show. Built in 1892 and meticulously restored, this Pilsen landmark offers one of Chicago’s most atmospheric concert experiences — soaring ceilings, ornate detail, and a floor that seems to want to move. For a band that blurs the line between dance hall and punk show, it’s the ideal arena.

Boletos / Tickets

Tickets are available now. Don’t wait — Son Rompe Pera shows sell out.

🎟 Ticketmaster

🎟 Shazam Events

Venue note: Thalia Hall operates on a standing-room floor configuration for high-energy shows. Check the Thalia Hall FAQ for policies on bags and merchandise (cash-only merch sales are common). Doors typically open one hour before showtime.

Son Rompe Pera at Thalia Hall is presented by Thalia Hall and the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago.

🎶 THE PARTY CONTINUES.

Levitt VIBE Chicago Music Series — Week 2

Saturday, June 20, 2026 · 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Riis Park · Behind the Field House · 6100 W. Fullerton Ave., Chicago FREE · All Ages · Open to the Public

Last week we kicked off the summer right. This week, we turn it up. The Levitt VIBE Chicago Music Series rolls into Week 2 with one of Illinois’s most electrifying live acts — a band that brings the heart and heat of Venezuela straight to the Belmont Cragin neighborhood. No tickets. No cover. Just bring yourself and room to dance. Don’t forget a beach blanket, a cooler and perhaps some shades.

🎹 Cepillao Band

Eight musicians. One unstoppable groove. Illinois-based Cepillao Band is a powerhouse Venezuelan ensemble that has been setting Chicago dance floors on fire since 2017. Founded and led by Manasés Rivera on keyboards — a Maracaibo native with serious tropical chops — the band draws its members from across the Latin American diaspora: Venezuela, Ecuador, and Puerto Rico all have a seat in this ensemble, and you can hear every bit of that richness when they play.

The name says it all: cepillao refers to a percussive, rhythmic strumming technique deeply rooted in Venezuelan popular music, and that drive — that relentless, joyful forward momentum — is exactly what this band delivers. From tropical salsa to Venezuelan dance rhythms, their sound is polished, high-energy, and built for a crowd that wants to move. Catch them live and you’ll understand why Chicago keeps calling them back.

📅 The Series

9 more Saturdays to go. Levitt VIBE Chicago Music Series runs every Saturday through August 29, 2026 — free music, open air, right in your neighborhood. Bring the family. Bring a blanket. Make it your summer tradition.

Dúo de la Fuente stands among the most devoted guardians of Chile’s rich folk music heritage. Rooted in the rural acoustic traditions of the Chilean countryside, the duo brings to life the heartfelt poetry of the tonada and the spirited rhythm of the cueca — two pillars of Chilean national identity — through tight vocal harmonies and the warm, resonant sound of traditional instrumentation, including the iconic guitarrón chileno and the luminous arpa.

More than a musical act, Dúo de la Fuente is a living bridge between generations, carrying the sounds of Chile’s agricultural valleys and coastal villages to audiences who may never have heard them — and reminding those who have exactly why they matter. Their performances are at once intimate and transporting, a reminder that the deepest expressions of a culture are often found not in grand concert halls, but in the honest simplicity of a song passed down through time.

🎶 KEEP THE SUMMER GOING.

Levitt VIBE Chicago Music Series — Week 3

Saturday, June 27, 2026 · 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Riis Park · Behind the Field House · 6100 W. Fullerton Ave., Chicago FREE · All Ages · Open to the Public

Three weeks in and the summer is just getting started. This Saturday, Riis Park gets a double dose of Chicago’s most exciting Latin sounds — a homegrown artist with deep roots and a genre-bending ensemble that refuses to be put in a box. Come hungry for something new. You won’t go home disappointed.

🎸 Cuevo Pérez

Cuevo Perez is a Mexican-born, Chicago-based singer-songwriter whose work lives at the crossroads of poetry and sound. Dark, romantic, and deeply introspective, his music fuses rock, folk, blues, jazz, and lo-fi textures into a cinematic landscape. A native of Acapulco, Cuevo crafts songs that feel like modern cantos—whispers of spaghetti western twang, smoky blues, and tender folk, anchored in a poetic voice.

A self-proclaimed bohemian, poet, dreamer, and song maker, Cuevo has performed on legendary stages including CBGB’s (New York), The Fillmore (San Francisco), The Whisky, House of Blues, and The Roxy (Los Angeles), as well as Foro Alicia and El Chopo in Mexico City. He has shared the stage with artists such as Juanes, Zoé, Rubén Albarrán, Draco Rosa, Ozomatli, and Maldita Vecindad, building a reputation for emotionally charged performances that move seamlessly across subgenres of rock and roll.

Chicago has always been a city that breeds originals, and Cuevo Pérez is no exception. Must see performance!

🌀 Almafuerte

Equal parts vision and groove, Almafuerte is the Chicago experimental Latin folk project of songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Jaime Garza — and once you hear them, you’ll wonder how you lived without this sound. Drawing from Latin jazz, rock en español, and deep Afro-Latin rhythms, Almafuerte creates music that feels ancient and completely alive at the same time. Psychedelic edges. Folk roots. A restless curiosity that pushes every song somewhere unexpected. This is not background music — it’s an experience. Catch Almafuerte live and you’ll understand why Chicago’s adventurous music lovers keep coming back.

🎶 THE SOUL OF PUERTO RICO, LIVE IN RIIS PARK.

Levitt VIBE Chicago Free Concert Series — Concert 4 of 10

Saturday, July 11, 2026 · 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Riis Park · Behind the Field House · 6100 W. Fullerton Ave., Chicago FREE · All Ages · Open to the Public

The fireworks are over. The summer is still very much alive. After a week off for the nation’s 250th birthday, the Levitt VIBE Chicago Music Series returns to Riis Park with something truly special — a living legend of Puerto Rican music and the sound of the island’s mountain soul, brought straight to Belmont Cragin. No tickets. No cover. Just bring a blanket and room in your heart.

🎵 Prodigio y Su Rumba Jíbara

Some musicians play an instrument. Prodigio Claudio is the instrument. Hailed worldwide as the Cuatro Ambassador to the World, Prodigio is the undisputed master of Puerto Rico’s national stringed instrument — the cuatro — and a living pillar of música jíbara, the soulful folk tradition rooted in the island’s mountain heartland. With more than 45 years as a professional musician, his name is synonymous with the very best of Puerto Rican folk artistry, cited alongside the legends of the cuatro tradition across generations.

When Prodigio plays, something ancient and alive fills the air. The ten-string cuatro rings out in brilliant, cascading runs. The rhythms of seis and aguinaldo — the soul-forms of jíbaro music — move through the crowd like memory. Together with Su Rumba Jíbara, his ensemble brings the full warmth and joy of Puerto Rican folklore to an outdoor stage, where it was always meant to be heard — under open sky, by anyone who wants to listen.

This is Puerto Rican roots music at its highest level. Don’t miss it.

🇨🇴 ¡VIVA COLOMBIA! FREE CONCERT AT RIIS PARK

Levitt VIBE Chicago Free Concert Series — Concert 5 of 10

Saturday, July 18, 2026 · 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Riis Park · Behind the Field House · 6100 W. Fullerton Ave., Chicago FREE · All Ages · Open to the Public

Colombia’s Independence Day falls on July 20th, and Chicago is celebrating all weekend long. While the Gran Festival Colombiano fills Humboldt Park with culture, music, and community pride, the Levitt VIBE Chicago Music Series adds its own tribute to the occasion — bringing one of Colombia’s most electrifying live acts to Riis Park for a night that is completely free and open to everyone.

No tickets. No cover. Just bring your flag, your family, and your dancing shoes.

🎤 Las Guaracheras

Six virtuosic women from the salsa capital of the world. One unstoppable show.

Las Guaracheras are a powerhouse all-women salsa sextet born in Cali, Colombia in 2017 — and in less than a decade, they have taken the world by storm. Performing Afro-Caribbean rhythms, salsa, and music from Colombia’s Pacific coast, their sound is fierce, joyful, and built on a mission: to elevate the female voice in Latin music and claim the space that women have always deserved on the concert stage.

Backed by vibraphone, percussion, bass, piano, and soaring vocals, Las Guaracheras deliver a show that is equal parts musical mastery and pure celebration. Their lyrics speak to the power, love, resilience, and creativity of women — and their groove speaks to every body in the crowd. They have captivated audiences from the Feria de Cali and Salsa al Parque in Bogotá, to festivals in Spain, Cuba, Canada, and across the United States, including the Twin Cities Jazz Festival, Lotus Festival, and LACMA Latin Sounds in Los Angeles. They closed out one year performing before 12,000 people at the Zócalo in Mexico City.

Riis Park won’t know what hit it.

🇨🇴 ¡Orgullo Colombiano! / Colombian Pride Weekend

This concert is presented in the spirit of Colombia’s National Independence Day (July 20). Whether you’re spending the weekend at Humboldt Park or heading to Riis Park for the evening, this is a weekend to celebrate everything Colombia has given the world. The music. The culture. The community. The pride.

Venezuela is one of the most musically diverse nations on Earth — a country whose soul lives in its rhythms, from the ancient drums of the Afro-Venezuelan coast to the contemporary sounds of a diaspora that has carried that musical heritage across the world. Tonight, that story comes alive right here in Belmont Cragin.

The Levitt VIBE Chicago Music Series presents Una Noche Venezolana — a multi-act spectacular celebrating the full spectrum of Venezuelan music, supported by Panas en Chicago, Chicago’s own Venezuelan community nonprofit. Five acts. One stage. One unforgettable evening.

No tickets. No cover. Come early and stay for all of it.

🥁 Tamanaco Tambor

The heartbeat of Venezuela, live and in full force. Tamanaco Tambor brings the ancient power of tambor venezolano — the Afro-Venezuelan drum tradition rooted in the rhythms of the Congo, carried across the Atlantic and transformed into one of South America’s most spiritually resonant musical forms. With the deep pulse of the cumaco drum, the ring of the campana, and the call-and-response of voices that have been singing these songs for centuries, Tamanaco Tambor opens the evening with something primal, communal, and completely alive. This is where Venezuelan music begins.

Sol Five Band is Chicago’s Venezuelan rock powerhouse — and with a lineup this deep, the stage has no choice but to catch fire. Formed by Venezuelan musicians who brought their roots from Barquisimeto, Caracas, Mérida, and Timotes to the streets of Chicago, the band fuses rock, Latin rhythms, funk, and urban sounds into a live experience that hits hard and moves fast. Guitarist George “Yoyi” Rodríguez brings 25+ years of everything from metal to cumbia. Bassist Jesús Pacheco locks in a groove that blends Anglo rock with R&B edge. Percussionist Juan Pablo Flores adds Afro-Venezuelan authenticity with congas, bongos, and beatmaker instincts. Drummer Antonio Marín brings 20+ years of Latin-rock-funk precision. And at the center of it all stands Miah Rose — a Venezuelan vocalist who started competing at age 12, has racked up over 20 first-place awards, won the 2025 National Singing Stars Competition in the U.S., went viral on TikTok with over 25 million views, and opened for Wisin & Yandel in Colombia. Sol Five Band isn’t just a band — they’re a statement.

Chicago knows this voice. MOXI VZ is a Venezuelan urban Latin artist who has made the city his creative home — even immortalizing it in his track Chicago de Noche — while building a catalog of contemporary Latin sounds that move fluidly between the rhythms of Venezuela and the pulse of a global diaspora. With a string of singles and features that have earned him a growing following on streaming platforms, MOXI VZ represents the next chapter of Venezuelan music: modern, personal, and rooted in the lived experience of a community that has crossed oceans and borders without ever losing its identity.

Andrés Correa is a musician who defies a single label. A DJ, producer, composer, singer, percussionist, and arranger all at once, he has spent his career — launched in Maracaibo, Venezuela in 2015 — building something rare: a complete artistic identity that holds up in the studio, behind the decks, and center stage. His sets are crafted experiences, weaving Afro House, Deep Tech, Latin, and House into long, flowing narratives that feel less like a playlist and more like a conversation with the crowd. Versatile by nature and precise by discipline, Correa brings a producer’s ear and a performer’s instincts to every project — an artist who is always evolving, always pushing, and impossible to put in a box.

JV Ninety is Chicago’s Venezuelan voice in the urban underground — and he’s just getting started. Originally from Caracas and now rooted in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood, this rapper, producer, and community builder has carved out a lane that is entirely his own, blending hip-hop, trap, reggaetón, dembow, and experimental urban sounds into music that is as spiritually charged as it is street-sharp. Signed to Venezuelan-American label Chi Caribbean Productions and founder of Los Caribeños Studio — a growing creative hub for Chicago’s Latino independent artists — JV Ninety isn’t just making music, he’s building a movement. Inspired by Mac Miller, Tyler the Creator, and Venezuelan lyrical giants Akapellah and Mcklopedia, his work is introspective, fearless, and rooted in a deep commitment to community and truth.
