Olga Cerpa is the most important female voice of the Canary Islands. Nominated for two Latin Grammys, she has shared the stage with such artists as Omara Portuondo and Joan Manuel Serrat, among others. Cerpa and Mestisay use “Jallo,” an insular word that refers to the objects that the sea throws to the Canary shores, to create splendid songs inspired by the musical influences that reach the beaches of their native land. Latin America, Portugal, Cape Verde and the African continent leave their mark as they revisit island songs that have been “found” in these years of musical journeys and that they rediscover for themselves and their audience through original arrangements.
Their latest production, PALOSANTO is a record project and a show whose concept is the dialogue between the guitar and the human voice. The title of the same refers to a tree and a wood highly appreciated by guitar builders. Olga Cerpa and Mestisay invited seventeen prestigious guitarists of different nationalities to record with them songs by authors from different geographies. Guitars and guitarists of different styles (with acoustic, classical and popular guitars) that accompany – in an organic album, full of nuances and with an enveloping and captivating acoustic atmosphere – the prestigious island performer, nominated twice for the Latin Grammys.
It was recorded, individually and in twelve cities around the world, thanks to technical advances and computer communication by each one of the guitarists summoned to the production after sending them Olga’s voice and a reference guitar online. In this way, it has been a record production that has jumped the distance between places that are very distant from each other and the circumstances that have prevailed in our society in the last year and a half, without the need for those who participate to do so physically among themselves.
Among the participating instrumentalists are some as prestigious as Dominic Miller (guitarist for Sting), Gil Dor (guitarist for the Israeli singer Noa) or Josemi Carmona, from Ketama. Also in the record of this singular production, the Cuban singer Pablo Milanés participates as a guest in one of the songs.

PALOSANTO es un proyecto discográfico y un espectáculo que tienen como concepto el diálogo entre la guitarra y la voz humana.
El título del mismo hace referencia a un árbol y a una madera muy apreciada por los constructores de guitarras. Olga Cerpa y Mestisay invitaron a diecisiete prestigiosos guitarristas de diferentes nacionalidades a grabar junto a ellos canciones de autores de distintas geografías. Guitarras y guitarristas de distintos estilos (con guitarras acústicas, clásicas y populares) que acompañan – en un disco orgánico, lleno de matices y con un ambiente acústico envolvente y cautivador- a la prestigiosa interprete isleña, nominada en dos ocasiones a los Grammys latinos.
Esta edición discográfica, que cuenta con la coproducción del proyecto Musicando del Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, está diseñada -en su versión física- por nuestros amigos colombianos de Catus Taller Gráfico utilizando dibujos del pintor grancanario Néstor Martín-Fernández de la Torre.
Fue grabada, de forma individual y en doce ciudades del mundo, gracias a los avances técnicos y de comunicación informática por cada uno de los guitarristas convocados a la producción tras enviarles internaúticamente la voz de Olga y una guitarra de referencia. De esta manera ha sido una producción discográfica que ha saltado la distancia entre lugares muy distantes entre sí y las circunstancias que se han impuesto en nuestra sociedad en este último año y medio, sin necesidad que quienes participen lo hagan de forma física entre ellos.
Entre los instrumentistas participantes se encuentran algunos tan prestigiosos como Dominic Miller (guitarrista de Sting), Gil Dor (guitarrista de la cantante israelí Noa) o Josemi Carmona, de Ketama. También en el registro discográfico de esta singular producción participa como invitado en una de las canciones el cantante cubano Pablo Milanés.
