The Levitt VIBE Chicago Free Concert Series welcomes one of the most talked-about acts to emerge from the biggest stage in American sports — a group that took Puerto Rico’s most beloved folk tradition to over 100 million viewers and made the whole world feel the pandero. They played Super Bowl LX. Tonight, they play Riis Park. And tonight is free.

🥁 Plenazo Tribe

In February 2026, Plenazo Tribe stood on the Super Bowl LX halftime stage alongside Bad Bunny — and in doing so, carried the ancient pulse of Puerto Rican plena to the largest live audience in American television history. It was a moment that musician Gabriel J. Montes, one of the group’s members, described in the aftermath simply and powerfully: “La plena es de Puerto Rico y viene de Puerto Rico, pero ya después del Super Bowl es del mundo entero y para el mundo entero.” Plena is from Puerto Rico and comes from Puerto Rico — but after the Super Bowl, it belongs to the whole world.

Founded in Los Angeles in 2023, Plenazo Tribe is living proof of that truth. Their members come from Puerto Rico, Argentina, Ecuador, Cuba, France, Peru, Mexico, Colombia, and the United States — a diaspora ensemble that has made one of the Caribbean’s oldest and most joyful musical traditions into a genuinely global phenomenon. Rooted in the pandero frame drums, call-and-response vocals, and irresistible communal rhythms that gave Puerto Rico’s working-class neighborhoods their soundtrack for centuries, Plenazo Tribe doesn’t just preserve plena — they reimagine it for the present moment, weaving in contemporary production, dance, and movement without ever losing the soul of what it is.

The Levitt VIBE Chicago Free Concert Series closes out its 2026 season in grand fashion, sending summer off the way it deserves: with brass, thunder, dancing, and the full power of Mexican regional music filling the open air at Riis Park. Two acts. One stage. The whole neighborhood invited. No tickets. No cover. Just come and celebrate.

🎺 Banda La Enkantadora

Chicago’s own brass powerhouse has been turning celebrations into unforgettable nights since the year 2000 — and a quarter century in, they haven’t slowed down for a single beat. Banda La Enkantadora was born right here in the city of winds, built by 16 musicians whose shared hunger to connect with audiences and leave a mark on their community became the engine that has driven the band ever since.

With multiple album productions — including Será Cuando Me Muera, 100% Ranchero, and their most recent release Mi Fantasía (2024) — and a catalog that spans cumbia, ranchera, and the full spectrum of regional Mexican sound, La Enkantadora brings the complete experience: the soaring brass, the rolling tuba groove, the voices that reach the back of any crowd. They are a fixture at Chicago’s biggest Mexican community celebrations, and they bring that same hometown energy and pride to the Riis Park stage for what promises to be a triumphant series finale.

🪗 Los Gallos

If Banda La Enkantadora brings the brass, Los Gallos bring the roots. Chicago’s premier Mexi-Americana band has spent years doing something genuinely rare: building a sound that refuses to choose sides. Fronted by guitarist and accordionist Ric Salazar alongside vihuela/jarana player Enrique Fajardo and a tight rhythm section, Los Gallos weave cumbia, norteño, Tex-Mex, and bolero into a seamless conversation with country, rock, and blues — music that honors the full inheritance of Mexican and Mexican-American culture without apology or compromise.

Hailed by the Old Town School of Folk Music as Chicago’s premier Tex-Mex/Americana roots band and featured on Bloodshot Records’ celebrated Chicago roots compilation, Los Gallos play for the dancers and the listeners equally — their sound warm and road-worn, their groove impossible to resist. On the last night of the Levitt VIBE summer, they are the perfect closing chapter: music with memory in it, played by people who mean every note.

💃 Casa Triana Flamenco

Chicago’s home for authentic flamenco is bringing the full experience to the park. Casa Triana Flamenco is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rooted in a single powerful mission: to make flamenco — one of the world’s most emotionally charged and technically demanding art forms — accessible, alive, and thriving in Chicago. Through dance classes, percussion instruction, school programs, and their acclaimed tablao performances at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, Casa Triana has built a vibrant cultural home for flamenco on the North Side. And now they bring it to the neighborhood.

Expect the full force of it: the thunderous zapateado footwork that shakes the stage, the deep resonance of flamenco guitar, the raw emotional power of cante — flamenco singing that reaches places words alone cannot go. From the ancient soleá to the joyful fire of the bulería, flamenco speaks a language that transcends borders. Colombia’s Independence Day falls on July 20th, and Chicago is celebrating all weekend long. While the Gran Festival Colombiano fills Humboldt Park with culture, music, and community pride, the Levitt VIBE Chicago Music Series adds its own tribute to the occasion — bringing one of Colombia’s most electrifying live acts to Riis Park for a night that is completely free and open to everyone.

🎤 Las Guaracheras

Six virtuosic women from the salsa capital of the world. One unstoppable show.

Las Guaracheras are a powerhouse all-women salsa sextet born in Cali, Colombia in 2017 — and in less than a decade, they have taken the world by storm. Performing Afro-Caribbean rhythms, salsa, and music from Colombia’s Pacific coast, their sound is fierce, joyful, and built on a mission: to elevate the female voice in Latin music and claim the space that women have always deserved on the concert stage.

Backed by vibraphone, percussion, bass, piano, and soaring vocals, Las Guaracheras deliver a show that is equal parts musical mastery and pure celebration. Their lyrics speak to the power, love, resilience, and creativity of women — and their groove speaks to every body in the crowd. They have captivated audiences from the Feria de Cali and Salsa al Parque in Bogotá, to festivals in Spain, Cuba, Canada, and across the United States, including the Twin Cities Jazz Festival, Lotus Festival, and LACMA Latin Sounds in Los Angeles. They closed out one year performing before 12,000 people at the Zócalo in Mexico City.

🥁 Tamanaco Tambor

The heartbeat of Venezuela, live and in full force. Tamanaco Tambor brings the ancient power of tambor venezolano — the Afro-Venezuelan drum tradition rooted in the rhythms of the Congo, carried across the Atlantic and transformed into one of South America’s most spiritually resonant musical forms. With the deep pulse of the cumaco drum, the ring of the campana, and the call-and-response of voices that have been singing these songs for centuries, Tamanaco Tambor opens the evening with something primal, communal, and completely alive. This is where Venezuelan music begins.

🎸 Sol Five Band

Sol Five Band is Chicago’s Venezuelan rock powerhouse — and with a lineup this deep, the stage has no choice but to catch fire. Formed by Venezuelan musicians who brought their roots from Barquisimeto, Caracas, Mérida, and Timotes to the streets of Chicago, the band fuses rock, Latin rhythms, funk, and urban sounds into a live experience that hits hard and moves fast. Guitarist George “Yoyi” Rodríguez brings 25+ years of everything from metal to cumbia. Bassist Jesús Pacheco locks in a groove that blends Anglo rock with R&B edge. Percussionist Juan Pablo Flores adds Afro-Venezuelan authenticity with congas, bongos, and beatmaker instincts. Drummer Antonio Marín brings 20+ years of Latin-rock-funk precision. And at the center of it all stands Miah Rose — a Venezuelan vocalist who started competing at age 12, has racked up over 20 first-place awards, won the 2025 National Singing Stars Competition in the U.S., went viral on TikTok with over 25 million views, and opened for Wisin & Yandel in Colombia. With a string of singles and features that have earned him a growing following on streaming platforms, MOXI VZ represents the next chapter of Venezuelan music: modern, personal, and rooted in the lived experience of a community that has crossed oceans and borders without ever losing its identity.

🎵 Andrés Correa

Andrés Correa is a musician who defies a single label. A DJ, producer, composer, singer, percussionist, and arranger all at once, he has spent his career — launched in Maracaibo, Venezuela in 2015 — building something rare: a complete artistic identity that holds up in the studio, behind the decks, and center stage. His sets are crafted experiences, weaving Afro House, Deep Tech, Latin, and House into long, flowing narratives that feel less like a playlist and more like a conversation with the crowd. Versatile by nature and precise by discipline, Correa brings a producer’s ear and a performer’s instincts to every project — an artist who is always evolving, always pushing, and impossible to put in a box.

🎶 JV Ninety

JV Ninety is Chicago’s Venezuelan voice in the urban underground — and he’s just getting started. Originally from Caracas and now rooted in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood, this rapper, producer, and community builder has carved out a lane that is entirely his own, blending hip-hop, trap, reggaetón, dembow, and experimental urban sounds into music that is as spiritually charged as it is street-sharp. Signed to Venezuelan-American label Chi Caribbean Productions and founder of Los Caribeños Studio — a growing creative hub for Chicago’s Latino independent artists — JV Ninety isn’t just making music, he’s building a movement. Inspired by Mac Miller, Tyler the Creator, and Venezuelan lyrical giants Akapellah and Mcklopedia, his work is introspective, fearless, and rooted in a deep commitment to community and truth.

The Levitt VIBE Chicago Free Concert Series brings one of the most acclaimed and culturally vital bands in contemporary Latin rock to Riis Park for an evening that is going to be talked about long after summer is over. No tickets. No cover. Just show up and let the music take over.

🎸 Making Movies

Making Movies doesn’t fit in a box — and that’s exactly the point.

Led by Panama-born, Midwest-raised musician Enrique Chi, the Latin Grammy-nominated group has been described by Rolling Stone as “an eclectic blend of rumbero percussion, delicate organs, and grungy fuzz,” while NPR calls the project “perhaps one of the most unique groups around today.” Making Movies’ catalog includes collaborations with Rubén Blades, Asdru Sierra (Ozomatli), Mireya Ramos (Flor de Toloache), and David Hidalgo (Los Lobos). Their performances are anchored in the rich rhythmic traditions of Panamá and delivered with the force of a psychedelic rock show. Their new album, Una Vida, will be released in the fall.

Rolling Stone called them wall-breakers. Their album I Am Another You hit #3 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Album Sales chart. NPR’s Tiny Desk featured them. They are Latin GRAMMY-nominated, co-writing alongside salsa legend Rubén Blades. They have shared stages with Arcade Fire, Los Lobos, Bomba Estereo, Thievery Corporation, Ozomatli, Gogol Bordello, and Cold War Kids. All three of their studio LPs were produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos — who heard them open a show and immediately asked to produce their next record.

But Making Movies is more than a great band. They are activists, educators, and community builders. Their nonprofit Art as Mentorship uses songwriting to empower the next generation of American artists. Their production house AMERI’KANA — funded by the NEA — documents an alternate history of American music through the lens of Black and brown musicians. Their annual AMERI’KANA FEST raises money for arts education in Kansas City. This is a band that puts its music where its values are.

Whether they’re singing in English or Spanish, wielding electric guitars or indigenous instruments from Latin America, Making Movies delivers what Rolling Stone described as “an eclectic blend of rumbero percussions, delicate organs and grungy fuzz rock” — a sound that is completely its own and impossible to resist.

Last week we kicked off the summer right. This week, we turn it up. The Levitt VIBE Chicago Music Series rolls into Week 2 with one of Illinois’s most electrifying live acts — a band that brings the heart and heat of Venezuela straight to the Belmont Cragin neighborhood. No tickets. No cover. Just bring yourself and room to dance. Don’t forget a beach blanket, a cooler and perhaps some shades.

🎹 Cepillao Band

Eight musicians. One unstoppable groove. Illinois-based Cepillao Band is a powerhouse Venezuelan ensemble that has been setting Chicago dance floors on fire since 2017. Founded and led by Manasés Rivera on keyboards — a Maracaibo native with serious tropical chops — the band draws its members from across the Latin American diaspora: Venezuela, Ecuador, and Puerto Rico all have a seat in this ensemble, and you can hear every bit of that richness when they play.

The name says it all: cepillao refers to a percussive, rhythmic strumming technique deeply rooted in Venezuelan popular music, and that drive — that relentless, joyful forward momentum — is exactly what this band delivers. From tropical salsa to Venezuelan dance rhythms, their sound is polished, high-energy, and built for a crowd that wants to move. Catch them live and you’ll understand why Chicago keeps calling them back.

Three weeks in and the summer is just getting started. This Saturday, Riis Park gets a double dose of Chicago’s most exciting Latin sounds — a homegrown artist with deep roots and a genre-bending ensemble that refuses to be put in a box. 🎸 Cuevo Pérez

Cuevo Perez is a Mexican-born, Chicago-based singer-songwriter whose work lives at the crossroads of poetry and sound. Dark, romantic, and deeply introspective, his music fuses rock, folk, blues, jazz, and lo-fi textures into a cinematic landscape. A native of Acapulco, Cuevo crafts songs that feel like modern cantos—whispers of spaghetti western twang, smoky blues, and tender folk, anchored in a poetic voice.

A self-proclaimed bohemian, poet, dreamer, and song maker, Cuevo has performed on legendary stages including CBGB’s (New York), The Fillmore (San Francisco), The Whisky, House of Blues, and The Roxy (Los Angeles), as well as Foro Alicia and El Chopo in Mexico City. He has shared the stage with artists such as Juanes, Zoé, Rubén Albarrán, Draco Rosa, Ozomatli, and Maldita Vecindad, building a reputation for emotionally charged performances that move seamlessly across subgenres of rock and roll.

Chicago has always been a city that breeds originals, and Cuevo Pérez is no exception. Must see performance!

🌀 Almafuerte

Equal parts vision and groove, Almafuerte is the Chicago experimental Latin folk project of songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Jaime Garza — and once you hear them, you’ll wonder how you lived without this sound. Drawing from Latin jazz, rock en español, and deep Afro-Latin rhythms, Almafuerte creates music that feels ancient and completely alive at the same time. Psychedelic edges. Folk roots. After a week off for the nation’s 250th birthday, the Levitt VIBE Chicago Music Series returns to Riis Park with something truly special — a living legend of Puerto Rican music and the sound of the island’s mountain soul, brought straight to Belmont Cragin. No tickets. No cover. Just bring a blanket and room in your heart.

🎵 Prodigio y Su Rumba Jíbara

Some musicians play an instrument. Prodigio Claudio is the instrument. Hailed worldwide as the Cuatro Ambassador to the World, Prodigio is the undisputed master of Puerto Rico’s national stringed instrument — the cuatro — and a living pillar of música jíbara, the soulful folk tradition rooted in the island’s mountain heartland. With more than 45 years as a professional musician, his name is synonymous with the very best of Puerto Rican folk artistry, cited alongside the legends of the cuatro tradition across generations.

When Prodigio plays, something ancient and alive fills the air. The ten-string cuatro rings out in brilliant, cascading runs. The rhythms of seis and aguinaldo — the soul-forms of jíbaro music — move through the crowd like memory. Together with Su Rumba Jíbara, his ensemble brings the full warmth and joy of Puerto Rican folklore to an outdoor stage, where it was always meant to be heard — under open sky, by anyone who wants to listen.
