Barcelona-born pianist and composer Carlos Bianchini brings his intimate, original piano music to PianoForte Chicago for an pre-Thanksgiving evening that sits between classical, folk and jazz. A one night experience to set the tone for your holiday season.

Bianchini began piano at an early age at the conservatory in his hometown of Barcelona, completed advanced piano studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Salamanca, and added studies in jazz and musicology. He started his career playing for dance and performing-arts productions, including Spain’s Compañía Nacional de Danza under Nacho Duato and Barcelona’s Institut del Teatre. That work made him highly skilled at improvisation and real-time composition. He later founded his own production company and has developed cultural projects across Europe, Asia, the United States and Latin America.
His solo piano work reads like a musical diary. Each piece captures a moment from his life, such as love or fatherhood, and draws on the Romantic and Impressionist composers he names as his main influences. His recordings include the solo album Sonata dels infants and the trio album NonSoloPiano, which moves toward jazz with contemporary and electro-acoustic touches, as well as Paisajes – Cuadernos de Viaje, a collection of symphonic-style pieces from his “travel notebooks” cycle.
At PianoForte, Bianchini will perform his own compositions insolo format, offering Chicago audiences a rare chance to hear the European pianist up close in one of the city’s dedicated piano venues. A perfect night of music and culture on the eve of Thanksgiving.
