Pascuala Ilabaca & Fauna @ Martyrs'
Chilean Artist Pascuala Ilabaca performed her Chicago debut at Matyrs' as part of our Music Series. Pascuala brings a truly global approach to her music fusing Latino sounds and rythms with music from Africa, India, the Middle East and Europe. Ilabaca´s vibrant and upbeat music has earned her accolades around the world.
Alex Cuba @ Old Town School of Folk Music
Alex Cuba won the Grammy for Best Latino Pop Album just days before this presentation at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. This event was made possible by the ILCC in collaboation with the OTS. Alex was born in Cuba and currently resides in British Columbia, Canada with his Family.
Formell & Los Van Van @ Joe's LIVE in Rosemont, IL
Los Van Van are an institution of Cuban Music and the ILCC was proud to present this legendary musical tour de force in Chicago last May 2022. For 53 years Los Van Van have delighted audiences with their danceable and energetic cuban rythms. This presentation was on deck at Joe's LIVE in Rosemont - July 15th, 2022. The result was a night of magical Cuban Music!
Germán López @ Instituto Cervantes of Chicago
Germán López is master ``Timplero``, an instrument said to be a precursor to the guitar and a unique sound that has been developed for centuries in the Canary Islands of Spain. German and his Musical Partner Antonio Toledo played at the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago in March 2022. The proficiency of this artist with this unique instrument took the audience on a world tour of music.
Tango Volver @ Nichols Hall in Evanston, IL
Tango is well known and regarded around the world and this performance last November 2022 helped welcome back live performances after the long pause created by COVID. This performance was full house at the Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston, IL.
Galguez Laxá @ Instituto Cervantes of Chicago
Galguez Laxá is an independent folkloric dance troupe from the Zapotec community of San Pablo Güilá, Santiago Matatlán, Tlacolula, Oaxaca made up of indigenous, Zapotec youth between the ages of 15-25. They seek to preserve the folkloric dances of the state of Oaxaca and take them to every corner of the world.
Zeca Pagodinho @ The Vic
Zeca Pagodinho is one of Samba's biggest stars in Brazil. The International Cultural Center of Chicago is pleased to have brought this Grammy Award winning artist to Chicago in his debut Concert at the Vic Theatre. Another fine example of the quality programming that the ILCC has come to produce in its year-round Music Series.
LatinXoxo @ Center on Halsted
Venezuelan artist Migguel Anggelo presents a unique show that has garnered many accolades from coast to coast. The ILCC presented LatinXoxo at the Center on Halsted last July 2023.
