The Reel Film Club: Isla Negra (Black Isle)

Reel Film Club: Isla Negra

FACETS | Tuesday, November 24, 2026 | 6:00 – 9:00 PM CST

November Selection: Isla Negra

Guillermo (Alfredo Castro) and his assistant Carmen (Paulina Urrutia) spend a weekend overseeing the final stages of a large real estate project in Isla Negra, the seaside resort where Pablo Neruda spent his final days. Their tranquility is disrupted by the unexpected arrival of a homeless family, who pitch a tent right outside their home. Their presence triggers a conflict that reveals deep political and social differences between them. As tensions rise, the characters are forced to confront their own contradictions in a power struggle that exposes the stark divides of contemporary Chilean society.

Genre: Drama/Thriller 🇨🇱 Chile, 2024 | 105 min. Directed by Jorge Riquelme Serrano Spanish w/English subtitles

About Reel Film Club

Reel Film Club is a monthly cinema series presented by the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago (ILCC), now in its 18th year. Running on the last Tuesday of most months at FACETS, each event brings together a reception with themed appetizers and a cash bar at 6pm, a screening at 7pm, and a post-screening discussion led by a film critic. Reel Film Club revisits standout past selections from the Chicago Latino Film Festival and premieres films deserving of a Chicago audience — all in an intimate setting built for conversation as much as cinema. Nothing else like it in Chicago.

Tickets: $20 general admission | $15 members
