Chilean Folk Music: Las Comaires

Chilean ensemble Las Comaires will be performing at the Instituto Cervantes next May 9th at 6:30pm. International Latino Cultural Center Presents.

The International Latino Cultural Center and ChileAmigos present the award winning Chilean folkloric group Las Comaires in their first U.S. tour and Chicago debut through the financial support of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of Chile. This concert received additional support from the Chilean Embassy In the U.S., the Consulate General of Chile in Chicago, The Masters School, Pipkin Productions, and from community partner, the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago. 

Originally conceived as a duo in 2009 composed of Ramira Núñez and Gabriela Contreras, this traditional group now performs as a 5-piece featuring harp, guitar, bass and vocals. The ensemble performs Chilean cuecas, tonadas, habaneras y villancicos and offers a rare opportunity to experience Chilean folkloric and traditional music in Chicago.

The evening begins with a reception featuring Chilean wine and food at 6:00 PM, followed by the concert at 7:00 PM.

Las Comaires will perform at the Instituto Cervantes on May 9th, 2025 - this one-night only concert showcases Chilean Folk music by the Comaires ensemble. Co Produced by ILCC and Chile Amigo with support from the Chilean Consulate and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Chile.

WITH REGARD TO FREE EVENTS:

Some of the events at the ILCC are FREE to attend, in some cases we ask for a suggested donation. In all instances we require you still reserve your tickets as space in some venues is limited. To reserve your tickets simply follow the box office protocol as usual. FREE events will be clearly marked as such.
