With exceptional warmth and strength, superstar singer-composer Daymé Arocena is one of the most brilliant exponents of Cuba’s contemporary music scene. Steeped in Lucumí melodies, rhythmic complexity, fluid jazz styling, and a nuanced Afro-Cuban soulfulness—she channels these elements in service of her audience and culture.

“Ms. Arocena unites cosmopolitan musicianship with deep roots.”

– The New York Times

The Daymé Arocena concert is part of the Global Music Series presented by Old Town School of Folk Music, Kehrein Center for the Arts, and the International Latino Cultural Center with generous support from the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.

“This Cuban soul singer is on fire right now, burning up the stages wherever she plays. With her strong and powerful voice, she’s reigniting the Cuban soundtrack.”

– NPR
