ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The Chicago Latino Dance Festival, now in its fourth edition, is one of the first festivals in the country dedicated to celebrating and uplifting Latino dance. Produced by the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago (ILCC), an organization dedicated to uplifting Latino voices through the arts, the festival honors the vast diaspora of nations that make up “Latino” culture — including Spain, Portugal, and other countries where Spanish and Hispanic traditions have endured, as well as Brazil, an essential part of the Latino experience.

TAMANACO TAMBOR
Dance Style: Tambor (traditional Venezuelan drum dance)

Tamanaco Tambor is an ensemble dedicated to preserving and sharing Afro-Venezuelan heritage by performing traditional rhythms, music, and traditions for diverse audiences in the United States. The group has a growing presence in the Midwest, with performance history at events like Frida Fest, Festival del Sol, and the Latino Music and Food Festival, as well as at The Morton Arboretum. Beyond live performances, they engage in educational initiatives, collaborations with schools and universities

CULTURA VIVA

Dance Style: Folkloric Dance
Country/Identity Represented: Honduras

For over six years, Cultura Viva has brought the vibrant energy of Afro-Latin and Caribbean dance to life through dynamic performances and community engagement. Blending movement, music, and heritage, the group specializes in traditional and cultural dance styles that celebrate the richness and diversity of Latin America and the Caribbean. This special tribute to Honduras is a first for the festival.

AFRICARIBE
Dance Style: Afro-Roots, Bomba
Country/Identity Represented: Puerto Rico

AfriCaribe is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, research, promotion and development of the Puerto Rican and Caribbean cultures through music, dance, theatre and other artistic mediums. AfriCaribe will perform traditional bomba dancing accompanied by live percussion and vocals.

CASA TRIANA FLAMENCO
Dance Style: Flamenco
Country/Identity Represented: Spain

Founded by dancer and educator Claudia Pizarro and Venezuelan percussionist and educator Javier Saume Mazzei, Casa Triana brings the fire and soul of Andalusian flamenco, both music and dance, from Spain to the heart of Chicago — passionate, rhythmically complex, and visually breathtaking.

PATIPERROS DANCE GROUP
Dance Style: Traditional Folklore
Country/Identity Represented: Chile

Founded in 2007, by Daniela Penaloza, Patiperros Dance Group has been the staple of Chilean Folklore in Chicago. The group showcases the rich and unique dances of Chile and offers a journey through the different regions of the country. The dance group’s mission is to preserve and promote their culture through their folklore, traditional dances, music and attire. This dance group constantly involves their community members in Chicago, by developing new dancers from the community.”

An evening spanning the breadth of the Latino diaspora — from Venezuelan tambor to Honduran and Puerto Rican tradition, the flamenco of Spain, and the dance of Chile — all under one roof at Humboldt Park Fieldhouse.

WITH REGARD TO FREE EVENTS:

Some of the events at the ILCC are FREE to attend, in some cases we ask for a suggested donation. In all instances we require you still reserve your tickets as space in some venues is limited. To reserve your tickets simply follow the box office protocol as usual. FREE events will be clearly marked as such.
